Pasalubong Balikbayan Box
Pasalubong Balikbayan Box
This drop's Balikbayan Box is inspired by "Pasalubong". Pasalubong or bringing back something from your travels is a very Filipino thing to do. You bring back something from home to give as gifts to your friends, family, etc. The most popular item to bring back is food!
So for this Pasalubong Balikbayan Box, we are going to include desserts inspired by the different regions we were able to visit in the Philippines. Since we don’t get to visit as often as we’d like to, I wanted to share a taste of our journey with you, capturing the flavours and memories of our travels through these special treats!
The box will include 1 of each of the following:
Mapandan, Pangasinan - Our dessert for this region is a Pandan Alfajores cookie! A pandan cookie sandwiching our homemade coconut jam and rolled in coconut flakes.
Baguio City - Our dessert for this region is strawberry turnovers! A crispy and soft puff pastry encloses a sweet strawberry jam from Baguio.
Bohol, Cebu - Our dessert for this region is asin (salt) bread topped with asin tibuok, a rare artisanal sea salt from Bohol. It has a flavour profile of earthy, smokey undertones.
Davao City - Our dessert for this region of course highlights cacao in a chocolate choux filled with our homemade champorado using pure cacao.
Manila City - It's only fitting that we bring back our ube coconut basque cheesecake to represent this region.
Mapandan, Pangasinan - Our final dessert for our box is a calamansi curd morning bun! A soft and chewy morning bun filled with your usual spices and our homemade calamansi curd.
And that concludes our trip to the Philippines! Thank you for joining our journey and we hope you enjoy our Pasulobong Balikbayan Box as much as we enjoyed creating it!
And like they say, IT'S MORE FUN IN THE PHILIPPINES!

Bakerrae is a personal journey to Filipino flavours — drawing upon my childhood with a twist.
Toronto's food scene is seeing many pandemic pivots, but Bakerrae aims to explore new ground: you won't find anyone else topping croissant-like pastries with calamansi curd or caramelized onions in soy sauce anywhere else.
